Ransomware The First Focus For Launch Of New Cyber Security Campaign

Ransomware Alert Warning Sign

The launching of a new cyber security campaign by the Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC), which will run all year round… because cybercrime never stops! is focusing on Ransomware.

Their campaign warns Australians about cybercrime and promotes cyber.gov.au as the one-stop shop for individuals, businesses and organisations to protect themselves against cyber threats.

Act now, stay secure

The new campaign promotes the ACSC as the trusted authority for cyber security advice and assistance in Australia. It warns that cybercriminals never switch off and urges Australians to ‘act now, stay secure’ by accessing the easy-to-follow cyber security advice on cyber.gov.au.

This month’s theme is ransomware, a type of malicious software that makes your computer or its files unusable unless you pay a fee. Anyone can be the victim of a ransomware attack at any time, and we are seeing an increase in ransomware attacks in Australia.

Check out our new ransomware guides (https://www.cyber.gov.au/ransomware).

This video by the ACSC is a great explainer.
The big take away from it is to be cautious/suspicious and that no device is immune if you click on ‘sus’ stuff.
